My Friend

 

A friend in need

is a friend indeed

what I needed before

was to learn much more

 

This has happened to me

since I found my friend

I was often rewarded

by what he had to lend

 

On so many days

over these many years

conversations with him

have lessened my fears

 

He listens to me

as I try to improve what I do

only having such a friend

can do this for you

 

For more than forty years

I tried to find a friend like him

when I found him in the sixties

much better my days have been

 

Its not just what he tells me

but about the thoughts we share

no better way to improve your mind

as well as finding ways to care

 

This poem that I write

describes what he has done

for me it has been just right

it has made my life a better one
