Our Words

Our Words

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

tell of our love

"
When the words we have to say
no longer find a listener
it is time we look for a way
to better kill some time

The desire to write a poem
is evidence of being bored
needing the kind of work
that gets confidence restored

It is not just the words
that make a poem worth reading
but more about happy thoughts
that we are seriously needing

As you read you learn my need
so plainly expressed for you
it is obviously clear indeed
about what I am trying to do

When the thoughts come to me
I search for each right word
hoping I can get you to see
I am not just another nerd

Each word that we choose
has its own special meaning
often the language of the poem
could use a bit more cleaning

When the poem fits on the page
it stays within our grasp
the ideas should not invite rage
or cause anyone to gasp

Always hoping for a review
that will show me that you care
letting us share our friendship
here and everywhere
