Recidivism

 

Recidivism is an ugly word

seldom used to describe success

often referring to a person who

is able to do much less

 

Habit we know is another word

describing what we so easily do

not so negative we have heard

but controlling our choices too

 

If you ask why this happens to us

think about our brain and mind

when we study hard and learn

we very seldom get behind

 

Our brain cells have been learning

every day since we began

hoping always to do our best

being as successful as we can

 

Most of the things we do

we have seen in others choices

making what they have often done

the most powerful of voices

 

Anyone would have to hope

what they have learned is good

telling them every single day

they are doing what they should

 

I submit it is now easy to see

where most of our behavior began

when our models usually excelled

we became for them a fan

 

But if they ended up in prison

it might happen to us too

with recidivism being our life

and not knowing what else to do
