Self Control

Self Control

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

for a purpose

"

The brain on the left
remembers what to do
the brain on the right
feels what is true

Balance effort with care
from both hemispheres
it will clear the air
and calm our fears

There is much we can do
if we work for a balance
there is no better way
to give us a chance

Practice will help
as it does in everything
taking time for ourselves
to hear our bells ring

As we become more stable
we can share our calm
helping others feel better
by being a soothing balm

We are all a part
of the picture of our time
doing more for our sanity
would make life shine

Using our brain
as a survival tool
would show to others
a way to be cool

This we can do
starting now today
showing those we love
we have found the way
