Ode to Women

Ode to Women

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

from "Vanity Fair"

"
Vanity Fair

Thackery's tribute to women
should not be ignored
Becky Sharpe some woman
and a woman adored

His Mother gave to him
the power to see
the importance of women
and who they can be

Becky was stronger than a man
it should be no surprise
men could learn from her
in their effort to be wise

Men still lead us to war
that is what they always do
with a promise to survive
that is certainly not true

Dying is part of life
find some joy while you can
after all you're an animal
pretending to be a man

You have less time left
than you want to believe
do something good for others
and a blessing you will receive

The blessing is the reward
your mind gives to you
the others you have helped
will feel the blessing too
