First-born Advantage

First-born Advantage

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

can be surpassed

"

First-borns we have decided
enjoy a life more fair
their early life is better guided
by parents who are there

No one can doubt
the help parents give
how they always look out
for their child to live

If the first-born follows
in the path that parents lead
they have a better chance
to find a way to succeed

The help we are given
in the early years we are here
will be the most important
in developing our sphere

If you have not been born
in this select group too
don't ever become forlorn
there is something you can do

You will have to find a way
more on your own
you can have a better day
when you are grown

Paying more attention
to what you choose to do
will give you a better chance
to surpass any first-born too

Those who want to succeed
spend more time reading a book
everything known has been written
you will find out if you take a look
