The Higher Power

and our belief

 

 

I am sure you know
it is comforting to believe
that God or His Disciple
will welcome you when you leave

 

At those pearly gates
while waiting to go in
you will hope there is no record
of the times that you did sin

 

Last rites may save you then
if they are given to you
but if your entry is denied
 there will be nothing you can do

 

You like so many others
who have enjoyed their success
have found that it was easy
to ignore those with less
 
The argument was often
they hadn't done enough
or their problem was due to
not being made of the right stuff

 

We live our life saying
"I am always doing my best"
what do people expect from me
I work a hard as the rest

 

Between now and that time
there are choices still to make
find time to help the needy
and do it for heaven's sake
