Learning

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

and learning to care

"

What we learn is our own
but it means more if we share
 by choosing to go alone
we may lose friends who care

The choice to be alone
is not only being brave
it may show some disrespect
for the gifts that others gave

What you share with a friend
will reflect back well to you
you both will  be able to send
more help to others too

You may ask why this is important
a good question for a good mind
 relationships are essential
if we want our world to be kind

When our world gets far away
and has less meaning for you
alone it may be harder to cope
with all that we have to do

Donne wrote about the island
and how it can affect our mind
it is better to follow his suggestion
and avoid becoming so blind

I believe you have learned to write
you were able to read every word
 writing gives one more insight
and the joy of being heard

Please consider what I have said
I would like to know what you think
even if you find it lacking
what we share may give us a link
