fears

fears

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

and our response

"
fear grips our life
in a very devious way
challenging our thoughts
until it makes us pay
a function of the mind
that can shake us to the core
the only fitting response...
nevermore

denying it could happen
would be far from true
not just what others feel
but it is your trauma too
 dealing boldly with fear
with courage to overcome
confronting fear will guide you
in your effort to become strong

looking back on the dangers
that I managed to evade
besting my fears was
the path to being saved
by not standing firm
and facing what I have to do
fear would get the upper hand
and winning the battle too

when words help to focus
our attention on the fight
we see what words can do to fear
as we try to do what's right
overcoming fear is less important
than the person we will become
there is no easy path
and it won't be always fun

letting fear be responsible
for our taking the easier way
is how we lose the battle
 that will never be okay

"a mind that can deal with fear
is evidence of being strong
let your fears guide you
and your life will be long"

and then

"as I write these words
trying to fill them with rhymes
I fear that other writers
will say I should get with the times"

soooo..glad you overcame that fear and wrote what you wanted to....because life is meant to live and fearing what others think should never stop us ...that fear becomes easier to overcome with age, yes
