Survival

Survival

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

in this world

"
The bull in the herd
is always in control
doing what is best
to reach its goal

It was always this way
and will be ever thus
no matter what we say
its the bull's genetic plus

Down through the years
life repeated the past
the bull had no fear
having the power to last

Survival is our game
it is how we got here
if we don't do the same
our extinction is clear

Life won't repeat
without this happening
the future won't be sweet
for humans caught napping

The other gender
may try but will fail
most are too tender
can't function as a male

Their role in life
more important than male
is how humans have survived
and should never be for sale

When you know of the past
wisdom will help you decide
if our race hopes to last
genetics rules we must abide

No matter how we couple
if we follow genetic rules
it will aid our survival
and avoid our acting like fools

Attention to genetics
is the required need
the strength of all humans
depends on the seed

In deciding what to do
question everything you hear
giving help to your neighbor
shows you care and have no fear

Still a great message. I am concerned about the restrictiveness and constrictiveness of the rhyme scheme though. Seems a bit coerced to me. As for what you are trying to get across, that is well done. Hope people that read this connect with it.
