Friends

Friends

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

is it forever

"

what does it mean
to have a true friend
could the soul enjoy a friendship
that has no end

considering the end
no one could be sure
 their soul had gone somewhere
or was it still here

the souls of true friends
may be what is shared
so purely rational
for those who have cared

the whole of existence
being so truly unknown
what form of energy
does anyone own

the time that we spend
seems to go by so fast
what we share with our friend
we want it to last

what we know for real
about what one can give
is the reason we feel
such a desire to live

if friendship for you
is your greatest endeavor
the bond you both create
may truly last forever

the love between friends
is the purest love known
the joy that it lends
we both can own
