in the beginning

in the beginning

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

writing is a passion to enjoy

"

if you think you would like to write
but do not know where to start
when you can forget about "I might"
you have completed the first part

some begin with an acceptance
of a more humble way to live
when you are a better observer
words will have more pleasure to give

being busy with places to go
having many activities to do
gives more spirit to your write
and many more ideas to you

let your imagination flow
it gives writing a real zest
it is all about what you know
for readers to decide who's best

important in your choices
is the ability to amuse
 though many writers have decided
it is better to confuse

if you care for yourself
it is what your writing will reflect
enjoyment for your readers
will require this self respect

by reading the great writers
who have been here before
you can get help with your write
and learn a great deal more

by making your first poems short
it is much easier to begin
when fewer words give your message
readers might enjoy listening in

from your knowledge of music

you know the lyrics use rhyme

making the songs flow smoothly

being a part of the design

if its a story you are about to write
suspense should be a part
an experience that has shaken you
could be a good way to start

whatever you choose to include
write thoughts you enjoy to read
you are the most important  judge
that you will ever need
