Giving

the best love

the life we were given
    was not our choice
in the very beginning
    we had no voice

 

complaining about our lot
    is a poor thing to do
only parents called us special
    hoping that it was true

 

by giving so much love
    to their child every day
we soon found out
    we were more than okay

 

the good example parents set
    becomes our life of joy
what they give is what we get
    to live and to employ

 

as we pass through the stages
    it is not the best of times
our behavior often rages
    being just short of crimes

 

as the years pass to adulthood
    we find more truth in living
what becomes more important
    the good life is about giving

 

 these words I hope will convey
     some truth about what to do
whatever you do will say
    how much of truth you knew
