Size

Size

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

it may be our fiction

"
From our earliest days
size was supreme
When anything was larger
it fulfilled our dream

We knew so well
that being taller was good
We wanted to become
as big as we could

This emphasis on size
continues to this day
The smaller you are
the less you get your way

Tall men seem better
at what they choose to do
Women who are shorter
seem happier too

This makes no real sense
its not about being tall
What happens so often
they just have farther to fall

Life is more about the effort
you apply to every task
If a person knows the score
this will be the one to ask

When humans look for help
to their gods they often turn
Having one all knowing God
usually relieves their concern

If they could believe
that God inhabits their being
They could look to themselves
for what they should be seeing

Their God is right there
as part of whom they are
To take better care of them
and this is more truthful by far
