Adapting

Adapting

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

to change

"

when what you believe
is what you want
comes a necessary change
your mind says I can't

cognitive dissonance
drives your next step
mind will not change
fears change is not hep

the old and the new
are always at odds
new no comfort to you
get no help from the gods

monotheism
knows not of the schism
wants everything simple
to enjoy more livin'

 if you embrace some change
you might soon know
your life will have more range
its a better way to go

keep your monotheism
and add a bit of the new
you have no need for gods
in what you choose to do

those who can adapt
are the strongest around
they go forward with the best
because their choices are sound

"cognitive dissonance"

"your life will have more range"

those were two great lines.

my only suggestion might be that sometimes it seemed that the rhymes were a bit forced. like you were bending them too much to fit. but that was just a note.

NIce. What I keep from this one is that people must keep an open mind for feeling and learning new stuff.... that's called evolution. But I disagree with that "adapting" part. If we adapted into everything, then we would only live for ourselves, we wouldn't be struggling for a bette change. We would only accept the shitiest of the situations.
