A Gift

A Gift

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

worth giving

"
Few gifts are given
in the best sense of the word
When they include compensation
so common as we have heard

This motivation for gifting
may be an early form of greed
Beginning before awareness
has few requirements with need

All the good things we do
include a darker side
Especially when we aren't aware
of one form of pride

This pride is learned
in groups fearing solutions
Too busy doing nothing
to ever get a resolution

Like so many problems
that begin with unknowing
There will be no solution
and the numbers are growing

Education has been corrupted
with environments too thin
With so much mindless time spent
we miss the trouble we are in

For you there is a solution
and this poem tells you how
You know when things are wrong
just start writing about it now

The first thing you write
should be in words you already know
Don't wait for someone
to tell you how it should go.
