Obesity

Obesity

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

and our history

"

Genetic connection to obesity
should be obvious to all who know
Humans for thousands of years
died when there was too little food

The drive to eat what was available
gave them the chance to survive
Without that drive to eat
no human today would be alive

Not all early humans had this problem
some survived with far less to eat
Today those survivors can eat
all they want and gain no weight

Thus it will be a struggle
for some to eat less than they want
If they do they will be very healthy
since every body requires enough food

When the brain faces the environment
and chooses the right food to eat
We call this a healthy person
someone it would be hard to beat

All mental choices fit this picture
we know there is less food available
In the fertile crescent of Europe today
millions survive on little food

The fertile crescent is where Homo Sapiens
first existed in world history
Poor choices and enough food available
some will die from obesity
