Values

Values

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

we cherish

"

Everything we do
creates values we hold dear
Whatever we value
is a message we want to hear

We start listening to others
as soon as we are born
What we hear becomes permanent
a memory we should not scorn

This is a survival trait
inherited from those who survived
Adding to our durability
and making us longer lived

Truth is what we learn
and it helps us to fit in
Any group we wish to join
show us the way to win

Our differences gain more power
when they have other's support
While always acting alone
is seldom the best resort

This is not true for leaders
who guide others to a win
If you want to be a leader
you must know how to begin

Then many will follow
anyone who is strong
It is a natural tendency
because they want to belong

You then become responsible
when you take the lead
And the role of being a leader
is most satisfying indeed
