Age

Age

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

in the heat

"

Shorter weaker heat now hurts
cells don't survive like this
They thrive in colder air
and enjoy a cool kiss

In the days of youth
heat was always good
You could work up a sweat
right where you stood

Now the cool air of fans
is about all you've got
Just wishing for some A/C
because its too hot

If  it doesn't cool down soon
cells will shrivel and give up
And howl like the b***h
who can't find her pup

Others are not aware
as they enjoy their cool air
Maybe something can be done
to show someone will care

No one should blame anyone
for what they didn't do
But when heat attacks the mind
nothing will be true

Age has become too patient
with changes that come and go
You see it also in their walking
so unsteady and slow

Guess I will complain
and see if it will do any good
The aged always need help
everyone knows they would

They listened to my plea
an A/C was just installed
Temperature a steady 72
they were even glad I called
