Machines

Machines

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

and people

"
More often we talk to a machine
with limited choices to choose
When what you want isn't available
stay calm and don't blow a fuse

The machine may be programmed
to do what most want to do
The company has too few people
to satisfy them and you too

If you do reach a person
you can tell them what you want
But  too often what happens
they don't know and hang up

The only solution left to do
is try again another time
You will never get all you want
even when committing a crime

Get used to the changes we face
its all about the population increase
Too many people with too many needs
with little likelihood to cease

Expectations should match reality
that is the best way to live
Everyone would be better off
spending more effort to give

Some may say it is only naive
in a world getting uglier every day
If you listen to their taunts
you deserve everything they say

Your world is only what you make it
there are still many who have hope
While you may only be hanging on
to what's left of a short piece of rope
