Stars

Stars

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

for direction

"
Look not to night stars for direction
they enjoy connections of their own
Its our cells that need our attention
a fact not widely enough known

Our body has many stars
holding their own cosmic place
We tinker and often disturb them
as we look to the future we face

Looking for clues to the future
from some external force
We ignore our own universe
our most important resource

Humans are simple beings
our minds have much to learn
When one of us is a star
its a cause for great concern

By designating one of us
a star deserving to behold
We might get some direction
clearer than the ages have told

All of us are stars for others
rarely appreciated by them
We often become their target
whom they choose to condemn

Look kindly in a stars direction
not only in the dark night sky
Look to your own cells behavior
you will find many reasons why

If you ever are feeling lost
the universe is a scary place
Just call on your healthy cells
and join in the mad mad race
