Birthday Task

ahead or ........

Every achievement is a struggle
like the one to be eighty four
But as soon as you get there
what you want is years more

 

Humans with their power to think
have ideas and plans galore
They never stop asking for time
to live more than others before

 

This is my task ahead
foolish as it may sound
Every day will be a struggle
a bit greedy I will have found

 

The past has caught up with me
taking chances every day
So many have not been so lucky
in their bold efforts to play

 

We hear so often the message
you have to play to win
Even without any money
life is about the wages of sin

 

Now that I stated my task
getting there is an act just ahead
You know the next line already
I better be careful or I won't make it

 

That's what I have said so often
then got hurt falling down
I should really join a circus
I've been acting just like a clown

 

If you believe clowns have more fun
not more than you and I do
But we all end up in the same place
and you already know that too
