Consider This

Consider This

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

if you can

"
So many times
since you were born
you enjoyed a loving kiss

Not true for so many
who never got one
never even knowing
 what they would miss

When things go wrong
did you ever consider this
too soon your life will be over
maybe without a kiss goodbye

Have you gotten so numb
that a kiss no longer matters
I would guess that's what
you wanted from life
or it would not have happened

You can fix it now
and appreciate
all the wonderful
things you enjoyed

Take a few moments
to consider
there are minutes hours and days yet

Don't let them slip away and be gone
without considering this
being sorry will not do

Where you are going
you will not even remember
what you missed

I really like this! It is sweet and subtle, suggesting a path and a new way of life for me. Th poem flows effectively and efficiently. I do enjoy the second stanza the most.

Critiques? tbh their isn't much to critique, I might change some of the language, but then again i am a love of ambiguous language (in my opinion) and imagery. Where as this works because of this difference, to change the language in such a way would almost certainly ruin the flow and style itself. Therefore I really can't critique it. If you wish to edit the occasional line or stanza then go ahead. But the Poem as a whole is a wonderful piece of work.
