Soul Search

for the truth

Soul searching is a task
that confounds the best around
So privately in the mind
not willing to be found

 

Its a healthy activity
to help you get to know
The person others see
wherever you go

 

Giving value to the question
of do you know what you believe
It will affect all of the rewards
that you hope to receive

 

Real rewards are not what you get
they are more about who you are
Your behavior will soon follow
much more important by far

 

Questions you will be asked
about how you will vote
Making thoughts less private
forcing others to take note

 

If you refuse their questions
they will begin to think
Your relationship has foundered
or is really on the brink

 

All of the above tells you
what may bother others most
When you stand away distant
only wanting to coast

 

So give it some thought
as I am sure you will
Life will be more certain
and hopefully a thrill

Hard to face the person in the mirror. I don't believe asking God for forgiveness will cure pain and loss. Like you wrote in your poem. We must dig deep and find forgiveness. Try to be kinder and better. Always a pleasure to read your poetry. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.
