BEWARE!!!

if you care

When you fall asleep in the chair
BEWARE!
The reason you sat in the chair
was to fall asleep there

 

Don't get me wrong
it was a good idea and more
That's what a chair is for
but you knew that before

 

I decided to write this poem
to warn you of what you should do
Decide on  a plan of where you fall
you will be glad you did this too

 

What you have in your lap
will be on the floor
Or on your clothes
even if you got up and barred the door

 

If you think I am quoting Poe's Raven
you may be right on the first guess
But what I am really saying
be prepared to clean up the mess

 

All of the above I have forgotten
like so many others my age
I hope you too will get there
now please don't turn the page

 

What I really wanted to tell you was
about the accident that happened to me
Somehow I got here today
but I know what will be will be

 

If I last through another stanza
my poem will be complete
You know for certainly, I think
I didn't want to cheat
