A Gift of Love

A Gift of Love

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

from you

"
In this year of twenty thirteen
and being born in twenty nine
I have almost reached 84
my life was better than fine

Many have had a long time to live
being eighty is better than none
Some of the days were not good
but my life has been a happy one

If I had lived for fewer years
I would not have minded at all
This is why I write this poem
I will be waiting for you to call

In another day I will be older
it will be another banner day
We should all be thankful for life
as we live in our very own way

If you like what I have written
I believe you can do it too
Tell us how you enjoyed life
it shouldn't be very hard to do

Your words will be your gift
to all of those you love
The ones you see every day
even those in heaven above

After you finish writing your poem
with or without some rhyme
Good feelings you will enjoy
tomorrow and for a very long time

Everyone you know will feel better
due to the gift of love you shared
This will echo often in your memory
we will all appreciate how you cared
