Your Future

Your Future

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

and mine

"
If God is there waiting for you
He is getting ready as you age
When you want to know the truth
just turn to the next page

If there is no truth
left on earth for you
It may only be an autopsy
for a technician to do

Try to think beyond the years
did you really expect much more
You still have the life you were given
what else were you waiting for

Get busy making others happy
there is nothing better to do
Some day you will be remembered
but only if what you do is true

It is why some poets write
about love and success while here
They know that writing lasts forever
money-grabbers only sneer

If whatever you write is honest
some intelligent reader will take note
Who do you know wouldn't like
getting that person's vote

There is always the problem of the start
one excuse after another
Don't read the rest of this poem
I am certainly not your mother

I am someone who likes to write
giving others something to read
If you don't see my questionable humor
I guess we both are badly in need
