True Facts

True Facts

A Poem by Sam Freeland

Truth Reality and Fact

When reality is the truth
it is entwined with a fact
Always connected
to an observeable act

Laws are written
so this will be true
To foster agreement
between you and you too

If this did not exist
opinions would be true
Records not dependable
about everything we do

Opinions create confusion
with arguments that don't blend
Better to stick with the truth
so disagreements will end

Communication begins
when we agree on terms
We can count on the result
that intelligence confirms

Magic a kind of trickery
to entertain the mind
Slight-of-hand bends truth
with nothing left to find

Poetry using words
with definitions arcane
Is a mental exercise
often profane

If you couldn't understand
what this poem was about
Put it back in the envelope
but please don't shout
