Human or animal

Human or animal

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

in Boston

"

They say Human is an animal
who is unfit for the world
Living on the planet
with its flag still unfurled

While some spring forward
in hopeful expectation
More go out-back-doorward
to their next station

The direction we will  go
is really still unknown
Please call me if you know
on your new cell phone

You will be participating
in the future that will be
Will it ever get any better
we will have to wait and see

Writing this poem
is one thing I can do
Describing success or failure
for the future that is new

This is my step forward
I'd like to know what is yours
We have the rest of our life
to open many doors

If  you choose to run away
no one will be surprised
And should this be what you do
your future will be compromised

But join with those who want
to turn this around
Nothing better we could do
will ever be found
