Insight

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

for smarts

"

You don't have to be told
which choices were right
You knew about any selection
from parental insight

Watching them choose
every hour and every day
It was what they selected
better than what they would say

Even when you disagreed
how could they ever be wrong
Unless please,God forbid
to them you didn't belong

Their cleverness extended
to every thing they did
you knew this was true
since you were a kid

If anyone says I don't know
I tell them where they can go
You just can't listen
to every idiot condition

When they say I should read more
I know I'm not like them
Reading about their opinions
again and again

Books don't ever help you
never saying what you know
The guys that write them
say we are just slow

Just trust what you heard
all these many years
And tell they should learn
how to shift the gears
