Painful Solution

Painful Solution

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

to solve

"
Being sleepless at night
often due to the pain
There is little to delight
as we deal with this bane

When we finally go to sleep
waking up it's the same
If only there was a way
to stop playing this game

But the answer is here
staring us down
The answer will not come
when we deny it with a frown

By searching our past
it becomes ever more clear
We have not made the changes
we didn't want to hear

Now that our eyes are open
we can take a new tack
Hopefully it will work
and then be a fact

By using this poem's help
we may soon find
That if we can stay awake
we can treat our body more kind

Any life one lives
will still have some pain
But changing our behavior
there may be much to gain

In this game we are playing
we must make up the rules
But if we don’t follow them
we are the only fools

Poems are just good words
that can tell us what to do
Following my own words
should give me a clue
