Dimensions

Dimensions

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

ocean's eleven

"

length, width, and height
measure us our space
and the time recorded
tells who won the race

having four dimensions
is adequate to know
how quickly Newton's apple
hit the ground below
he saw that the apple
wasn't slowed by the air
Adam enjoyed the pome
and kissed Eve right there

Einstein had five dimensions
to understand space
though it could not help him
to ever win any race
his life lasted very long
and he enjoyed the fame
but there was more to learn
and he was not to blame

he kept thinking about space
was it really curved or not
did the bullet go straight
when Lincoln was shot
if the sixth dimension is true
are there even five more to go
maybe strings weren't enough
and that we may never know

though mathematics has said
there must be eleven
we may all learn the truth
if we ever go to heaven
