Being Alert

Being Alert

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

to change

"
Watch out when others change
their gain is not for you
The change their after is money
don't let it fool you too

Rebranding they may call it
to sell you a better lie
Look at all the fine print
and ask the reason why

Change will help someone
better when it is you
Careful we haven't been
now it is time to do

The struggle we're in is age old
described as dog eat dog
Survival is not for the weak
so come in out of the fog

Strength is seldom physical
its the brain telling what  to do
The alert will be victorious
much more likely being true

The others loss we know
watching them smell defeat
If we pay close attention
their loss will be complete

We do not wish them any ill
the way they treated us
Riding in their Cadillacs
leaving us to ride the bus

The rich have never cared
to share what workers earned
Now it is time for the workers
to be more concerned
