Epitaph

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

for one

"
Body strong, born to live
more than given
Events unknown, took their share
as compensation

Choice denied truth
that took years of life
Lost for the joys of living
and addiction

As the meaning clarifies
the time spent or wasted
Life fulfilled
with  nothingness

Ignoring truth with selfishness
failing other's needs
And hope for
unplanted seeds

Gone with pain
deserved so well
To the hereafter
when they rang the bell

Goodbyes undeserved
ring out and sharing
gone and
glaring

Take this message
and usher in a new plan
If you don't do it
you are a lesser man

Poems are truth
unvarnished reality
Giving a special greeting
of finality

A lot of wisdom in these words. The longing I live. The less I know. We live a long life. Most deeds no-one will remember what we did. I like the honest feel of the thoughts in the outstanding poetry.
