Listening

Listening

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

may mean survival

"
Listening poorly we may miss
instructions we need to know
If our listening means our survival
our chance of living is low

Needing help to get there
it may not be explained well
The person helping us
may not know how to tell

Any explanation that is given
may simply be wrong
Even when it is correct
it may still be too long

Explanations given freely
could require more trust
If its important to get there
this will be a must

We have all been lost
on an occasion before
Our speaking and listening
required so much more

It could be better to read a map
when the map is up to date
If this is your only solution
even that could seal your fate

Learning to communicate
is a requirement for everyone
When you have learned it
your task has just begun

Careful listening and speaking
will save a lot of time
For anyone to do it incorrectly
may even be a crime
