Friendship

Friendship

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

is better

"
Our attitude is our behavior
the position we choose to take
What we do in this position
will be the friends we make
The result of any choice
will then control what we do
Shared and felt by others
as a guide for them too
Our many personal truths
will not be understood
We need better explanations
and you know that we should
We learn from their responses
about their point of view
This gives us significant help
in anything we choose to do
One cannot live alone
as a poet has clearly said
No man is an island
a life he would certainly dread
We live in a community
its best not to escape
We need to share with others
and enjoy the friends we make
We need to find a friend
who will be a friend to you
Giving a warm connection
that they will treasure too
Sharing similar attitudes
will help any friendship grow
It creates this happier state
everyone wants to know
If you can take a bit of advice from a lonely old man
you will not think twice when making your plan
When it comes to the end you want to look back
and realize that it was friends you did not lack
