Serious Mind Games

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

about survival

"

When you read this poem
and it disturbs your mind
Stop reading immediately !
the words may not be kind

A writer should write
about what has been learned
  Believing in it's truth
and be very concerned

Any writing about life
is really about our hope
Naming what we can do
in our efforts to cope

Writing about death
makes some readers sad
Those readers should learn
that poor decisions are bad

It is not what you read
if reading causes fear
It's about missing the message
the writer tried to make clear

What happened in your past
I feel sure that you know
Better choices now for you
is the direction you should go

Surviving is our goal
it may be a difficult feat
But you know you want to live
so be more careful what we eat

There are too many foods
often too easy to get
Most of them not good
and on that you can bet

You now see that this poem
is about the choices we make
To do the best that we can do
find bad habits to break

I definitely agree with all your points here. They're also direct to the point, I suppose, which to me, personally, is a good thing. I know it's been eight years, but hey, that's the beauty of writing.

I like it. :) The rhyming was impeccable, and message quite concise. ^_^ Please keep writing!!
