add to our understanding

by what they have to say

Poetry requires us to think

about the intent of every word

there is often a deeper meaning

than we have ever heard

This should be no surprise

to those wanting to learn

many hours must be spent

to find words that show concern

Education is highly prized

and so should it always be

to attain a level of excellence

requires effort of a high degree

We know the power of words

they control everything we do

to become facile in this medium

many hours of study will ensue

Finding anything worthwhile

starts with how you begin

letting poetry into your life

is one of the ways to win

The songs we love to sing

have many lyrics that rhyme

giving our music beautiful poetry

making it last forever in time
