Massage

Massage

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

and less itch

"
An ancient Portuguese custom
for those who had the means
A calming soothing tenderness
avoiding those scratching scenes

More valuable for the old
sensitive and sedentary
Muscle mass no longer
let the young do the carry

Skin itch is due to nerves
in skin now so thin
Missing muscle contractions
much less there within

Caressing with oils and balm
lubricating the dry skin need
To give feelings of welcome calm
very comforting indeed

A massager knows this well
becoming a savior to this soul
Taking away the awful itch
preventing its merciless toll

Bath houses and spas of old
giving new life to the skin
Very important places for men
with muscles now too thin

Couples who age together
fill their needs so well
Sharing beautiful caressing
without any need to tell

Walking and square dancing
keep these seniors in great shape
With every day that passes
many hurts of life they escape

Sounds like a philosophy about massages, oh god, that sounds more humorous than how you present it. On topic; I enjoy the relaxation and soothing flow to this: a comforting voice that resonates through the centuries. Also, the way it evolves from one topic to another yet is still ultimately webbed together was a clever way to construct your poem. Well done!
