Winning

Winning

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

for all

"

Whatever you believe

will be what you want

But then comes a change

your mind cannot flaunt

A cognitive dissonance

drives your next step

If your mind cannot change

it is clear you're not hep

The old and the new

seem to be at odds

If the new isn't for you

look for help from the gods

Your belief in monotheism

is a belief very strong

A conservative behavior

that has lasted very long

Embracing the new is liberal

for those in the know

You are ready for the changes

a superior way to go

Keep your monotheism

but add a bit of the new

Or the gods will all frown

due to what you didn't do

You may learn to adapt

like the liberals have done

And go forward with them

then we both will have won

With winners and losers

we both will have lost

A sad state of enjoyment

and a very high cost
