Chippy

Chippy

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

my new friend

"

A chipmonk stopped by

on his way somehere

Greeted me with a grin

and a friendly glare

He may have had feed on his mind

thinking maybe I had some

Everyone here has been so kind

I bet he was glad he had come

Since you never know

what anyone can think

You need body language

telling you quick as a wink

Body language is friendlier too

a universal language for all

If you pay close attention

you won't need to call

Chippy must have known

seeing this very large man

I could be too dangerous

so away he ran

I didn't get to feed him

though I certainly wanted to

He gave me the idea for this poem

so I will send it to you

If you see him tomorrow

please tell him for me

I will have some grain

and he won't have to flee

You might want to add

he could also bring a friend

There will be plenty for both

that is what I intend
