Allergies

Allergies

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

that test you

"

Allergic reactions are the worst

especially when causing an itch

The itches will be so bad

you forget which itch is which

Since your body is old

it's immune system is worn

Making your future outlook

a clear cut case of forlorn

The next step has two choices

suffer and wait 'til it's gone

Or you knew what was coming true

your fate singing the end of your song

Why write so often about the end

you write about what is in your mind

If only the facts of one's life

could somehow have been more kind

The act of writing this poem

could actually be a good start

Enjoying breakfast in the morning

evidence of what I did was smart

Writing these poems not read

explains how my mind did work

Proof to the whole dead family

ability to write poems is a perk

Being different is a real problem

almost every family has one

They usually fail to appreciate

the one who is having the fun

I can tell you now with certainty

most of the itch I had is gone

I look forward to waking up

smiling and facing the dawn
