Prejudice

Prejudice

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

negative behavior

"

Prejudice has deep roots

limiting the use of the brain

Letting it affect behavior

is close to being insane

Its definition tries to help

anyone who can read

A dictionary tells of the danger

and all the wise take heed

Acts are a neural response

and prejudice is often learned

Giving help to those so affected

shows that you are concerned

In lower forms of animals

the neural response is good

Evolution has given us a solution

as everyone should know it would

Recognition of danger in animals

is a neural response to live

Also an early form of prejudice

that this behavior will give

If prejudice saves you from danger

it may help you to survive

Showing the advantage of evolution

in how we mangaged to stay alive

Since we have evolved for centuries

survival is an easier chore

We no longer need to be prejudiced

using this behavior any more

To prove you have evolved

avoid any prejudicial acts

Showing superior intelligence

that prejudice normally lacks
