Game of Life

Game of Life

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

enjoy

"
The game of life is cruel
making equality a bad joke
Some have a wonderful life
many others are just broke

When it is said we are equal
too many think it is true
Everyone should get a fair share
but this does not mean you

The hard lesson comes before
we ever would suspect
When we understand fate
we know some will be the select

Fate is really the environment
the big boss of every life
God helps us ignore the truth
letting others enjoy their strife

Humans have prayed to every god
that could give them some hope
But everyone gets to die
when they can no longer cope

This cruel event is a blessing
as every species has found
We wouldn't enjoy our life
with all the dead hanging around

To help enjoying your life more
you need some levity every day
Giving balance to painful truth
as we all struggle in the fray

It has helped me to describe
what it is I fear the most
Delaying my deep concern
about becoming just a ghost
