Reflection

Reflection

A Poem by Sally Sparrow

The darker the sky, the closer the insanity
creeps
Finding my mind and burying itself
deep

Slowly, quietly at first, is faceless
pain
Silently places around my neck a thorny
chain

Throws me down, drags me away to
fight
When I'm released, I scream and
bite

Moving and sweating through the steamy
convection
I glimpse my opponent, my own
reflection
