American HWYA Poem by SjoMC![]() I've traveled in the US and internationally, in the US it is considered a right to be able to travel it struck me very hard when i learned that it was not considered that way else where.![]() Sing to me with freedom Tar and Rock Bathed in wind and Sunlight Glistening neath every starry night Sing to me this freedom Braced in iron and Dreams With silent inspiration your wayward byways gleam Held tight by wanderlust Grace pounding in your seams Whether we travel for joy or must Tying Sea to Sea If only the world could be wrapped once by thee Sing to me with freedom Between the rim and speed God forgive me if be Greed Somewhere out there may heart my be found Take me at my need Voyages desperate and profound This road that runs from far and wide To my abide Sing to me this freedom Yellow Stone to the Everglade Upon this Glory here may all Humanity cascade Some times in this world of digital faces We have made. I wonder how you are in places Where time has scarred Where in our ambivalence we marred Sing to me with freedom Always may we maintain and respect This luxury may we never neglect God let us be ever blessed May it always free our strength and intellect On these highways that know no rest Tying Sea to Sea If only the world could be wrapped once by thee Sing to me this freedom Tar and Rock Bathed in wind and Sunlight Glistening beneath every starry night © 2016 SjoMCAuthor's Note
