A Dream In The RainA Poem by SallyDMWhen I started this one it just seemed to take on a life of it's own.Softly, gently like a soothing melody falls the rain Sparkling brilliant gems against the windowpane As I gaze down onto the empty road below A solitary lamp shares it's luminescent glow
Down stairs and onto the street I flee, now I am free Lifting my face I feel the water flow deliciously over me The night draws me in, cloaking me in its dark embrace The memories of our forbidden tryst I cannot erase
A shiver runs down my spine...it is not a shiver of fear But every cell in my body is screaming you're near There you are waiting at our special place under the tree We know this is wrong but without each other we cannot be
The wind picks up and the leaves fall like confetti at our feet This is the moment, when our treacherous lips meet But no your lips are not warm and passionate but a mist For you have long since left this realm, bled from your wrist
Now I remember why we cannot be, this world was not meant For you and me, while the time we had together was well spent But now I search the streets to catch a glimpse of you in the rain Yet all I find is sorrow and pain, for a ghost you will always remain
