RichesA Story by SallyThe sequel to Huckleberry Fin! 6th grade english!
Riches Tom and Huck marched down the street pick, shovel, and dead cat in hand. They were on their way to the graveyard, to rid themselves of warts by reciting a magical phrase, they also planned to dig for treasure. It was dark outside, as it was nearing “Alright, alright. I’m coming.” Huck said starting to jog. They climbed the hill to the graveyard and gathered around the circle of stones they had made earlier, and placed the dead cat inside it. “Hocus pocus warts be gone. Dead cats be the trick to this wicked trick. When we’re done chanting and dancing our warts will be gone, so go away all!” The boys chanted in unison. “Ok now we just have to wait ‘till day break, without sleeping.” Huck said picking up his pick and shovel. “Got it, but we needn’t worry about that, ‘cause we’ll be up long past dawn digging for treasure.” Tom exclaimed. Picking up his own pick and shovel, Tom and Huck started digging. A few hours, and quite a few holes later Tom struck something hard as rock. “I found something!” He exclaimed. “What is it?!” Huck asked excitedly, helping Tom pull the heavy chest out of the hole, “Oh, I don’t know!” Tom said trying to open the case, “I- It won’t stir!” Tom said picking up the pick to pry it open. Only after Tom laid on the handle of the pick, throwing all of his weight on it did the seal on the case break. Tom opened the opened the case, and stared with glittering eyes at the huge mounds of gold in the chest, “Huck… Huck look.” He sad in a trance like state. “Wow.” Huck whispered. They hauled a wagon to the top of the hill and transferred the chest from the ground to the wagon, and the wagon served its function at pulling the ridiculously heavy chest back to the town. The boys of course had taken most of it, Tom spending his share with his family, and Huck spending his share on weapons, food, and toys. They took the rest of the gold to the town and gave the remaining gold to the towns people, most getting 2 or 3 coins. The town greatly appreciated the boy’s giving and rejoiced. Tom and Huck were once again crowned the town heroes!
