I Still Believe In Stories

I Still Believe In Stories

A Poem by Saki

In the end there’s always a sad story

There is always a girl that is weeping

She can’t find happiness in seeking

Love disguised as hate

Can I still believe in stories?

In white knights and happy endings?

Bedtime stories are fading

Cinderella, where have you run?

Somewhere your prince is waiting

Oh, we’ve all loved and lost and cried

Is it wise to dwell on dreams now?

Of castles and valets and crowns

Can I still believe in stories?

In white knights and happy endings?

Shine down on me

Destiny

You’re welcome to see

The life I lead

No photo calls and lunches

No king and queen and prince

No gala dinners and dances

No socialites and heiress

But I still believe in stories

In white knights and happy endings

Yes, I still believe in faraways

And happy ever afters...

Will fairytales last forever?

Will I still believe tonight?

Is it real or does it matter?

If it’s not

Still my hope won’t falter

Reality can bite me

But I still believe in stories
