Be careful what you wish for

Be careful what you wish for

A Story by Aki

It might just happen...

We all know the saying, and we all know it well. We all know what it means, but do we ever really listen? I'm not speaking for everybody, but, I'm here speaking for myself in saying; No, I don't always listen. This is the second time it has ever happened to me, and it made me learn that I need to watch what I say.

When I was fourteen years old, I was well known for spur of the moment rampage and bitching. It all started with my mom needing the phone, and I'm sure just about everybody knows every teenage girl is attached to the phone for hours when she gets the chance. Naturally, I was on the phone with my best friend chit-chatting like we always do, even to this day. My mothers annoying voice had eventually gotten me off the phone, but also started a fight between the two of us. She really needed to call my grandmother, who lived on the other side of the country at the time, to check up on my great grandmother. Through the yelling and fighting, I had told my mother that I wished my Granny would just die and get it over with....

My wish came true two weeks later. She passed away, and it was the start of the worst family trip I have ever had to be a part of. That is just my first encounter with this, and now it's four years and some odd months later. Now, this is how this one started..

My younger sister had one of the worst cases of Bi-Polar disorder along with some built up anger issues. Just taking step into her room without her permission is like commiting suicide without doing it yourself, all she has to do is find out and she will. Well, a friend of ours happened to be up in her room without any of us knowing, she said she had to use the bathroom..since the downstairs bathroom was being taken over by our father who was jumping in the shower.

A few days later, we come to find a lot of our things our missing out of my little sisters room. Our first guess is our friend who happened to be up stairs alone. She's automattically becomes our first suspect and we text her. She states that she never got into any of our things but we all know her too well to believe anything that she says. Later that day she tells my sister that I was the only one in her room that she had seen. Mind you, I have permission to be in her room at any time...unless she's asleep.

This brings my sister to believe that I'm the one that had stolen her things. This of course, pisses me off because things of mine that were in the room went missing as well. Throughout the day, my sister is nagging me and trashing my room trying to see if I had stolen her things, and I'm ranting and raving about this supposed friend of ours. As the day calms down, my sister and I are getting along once again. Through rage, I had wished that this friend of ours would crash her car and die...

I woke up this morning to a call from this friend. She asked me if I had heard sirens last night around 11:30pm. I had told her no, because I really don't recall hearing any sirens. She sounded surprised when I had told her that, and she told me she had crashed her car into a ditch while driving drunk...She's fine, but her car is totaled.

I really don't know what I'm trying to say here, maybe just sharing some experience or maybe it's just a reminder to myself that I really need to watch what I say, because sometimes they really do come true.
